As I went to a spin class last week and the topic of goals came up in conversation. Do you write your goals or not? Do you keep track of them and your progress? The topic of how to set a goal was brought up. I love goals. I think they keep us motivated to do our best and to keep us focused when it is so easy to get distracted. I was able to think of the acronym that I use to set goals: SMART? Specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time oriented. I began to think of what goals that I needed to set or revisit.
Later in the day, I was reminded of the need to set goals and what are the priorities? I was at our real estate office and was asked what my goal was in real estate. I began to think of what I wanted to do with my license and to set some goals. I know writing them down is the first step.
As the days continued last week, I began to narrow down some more goals for the week to stay focused on what I need to do. I was able to write 27 goals for July. One of them is to blog 3 times a week. Today is Monday, the perfect day to start.
I saw this quote, “The price of anything is the amount of life you exchange for it.” by Henry Thoreau. I began to think of the time that we spend setting up and achieving goal, to think about the importance of doing it and the time we set for them. I often think about “time is the one thing that we can not get back.” The time we spend on social media, arguing, or just wasting time. So maybe there are some things that we need to give up? I saw another quote that talked about if the time we spend doing things does not relate to our goals, then stop doing them. Just some thoughts as we start Monday!
